Abstract (EN)

In this study, the physical and engineering properties of different types of aggregates and their suitability for use in concrete were evaluated through aggregate tests, along with an assessment of the 7-day and 28-day compressive strengths of concrete. Aggregate samples were obtained from limestone in the Antalya Topsurlar region, trachyte from the Ankara Gölbaşı region, and gabbro from the Çorum Alaca region. After undergoing crushing and screening processes, the aggregates were tested for specific gravity, water absorption, fines content, methylene blue value, Los Angeles abrasion, sulfate resistance, and alkali–silica reactivity to determine their physico-mechanical and engineering characteristics. Concrete mixtures were produced using identical water-cement ratios, chemical admixtures, and air-entraining agents for each aggregate type, and three cube specimens were cast from each mixture to evaluate 7-day and 28-day compressive strengths. According to the test results, the highest compressive strength at both 7 and 28 days was achieved in concretes produced with gabbro aggregates sourced from the Çorum Alaca region.
