Abstract (EN)
In recent years, important studies have been carried out on biomaterial/tissue interaction. In the course of these studies, biocompatible materials have been developed for restructuring the body's natural tissues. In this study, biocomposite materials for dental uses have been developed for the production of biodegradable screws in future studies to eliminate the need for a second surgical intervention related to very common wounds such as crack in the bone tissue, allergic reactions. For this purpose, hydroxyapatite (HAP) particles were synthesized by wet precipitation method. They were surface-modified with three different functional silane compounds (3-Aminopropyl trimethoxysilane (AMMO), 3Glycidyloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GLYMO) and 3-Triethoxysilyl propyl succinic anhydride (GF-20)). The resulting silane modified HAP particles were incorporated into the polylactic acid (PLA) matrix, pressed into circle-shaped coupon under high pressure and cured by treating at 200oC under N2 atmosphere. The structures of the synthesized biocomposites were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR) and surface morphology by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Thermal behaviors were investigated by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and % weight loss in an ash furnace at 600°C. In order to investigate the material properties of the biocomposites, changes in hardness values of Vickers and % weight loss were determined according to initial values after standing at 37° C for 45 days in Synthetic body fluid (SBF) medium.
