Evaluation of effectiveness of different bleaching treatments in vivo

In this clinical study, it is aimed to compare the bleaching strengths of different bleaching applications with the help of spectrophotometric analysis method. 100 patients, who are between the ages of 18-56 and have anterior teeth colour which is A3 or above, are divided into 5 subgroups (n=20). Bleaching method by using ozone for Group 1, chemical bleaching operation by using bleaching agent (Opalescence Boost, Ultradent Products) including %40 hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for Group 2, chemical bleaching operation by using bleaching agent including 35% including hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for Group 3, laser activated bleaching method by using bleaching agent (Opalescence Boost, Ultradent Products) including 40% (H2O2) for Group 4, laser activated bleaching operation by using bleaching agent (Whiteness HP BLUE, FGM Dental Products) including 35% (H2O2) for Group 5, are applied. Teeth colour before the treatment and change in the teeth colour after the treatment and the teeth colour two weeks after following the treatment are evaluated by using spectrophotometer (VITA Easy Shade Advance Digital Dental Instrument, Germany). Toothache, gingival sensitivity and patients' satisfaction are assessed with the Visual Analog Scala (VAS) by people who accompanied to study. After the treatment, considerable change in the teeth colour, which makes doctor and patient glad about the operation, are obtained. It is found that teeth colours after the treatment are lighter than the teeth colours before the treatment in all groups and these changes in the teeth colours provide meaningful results (p<0,05). The least change in the teeth colour is observed in the Group 1 and any sensitivity regarding teeth and gingival is not observed again in Group 1. Better bleaching results are observed in the groups that laser methods are applied on.
