Abstract (EN)
The location of the study area is Fatsa district of Ordu province, which is located in the Eastern Black Sea part of the Black Sea Region. Fatsa district is bordered by the Black Sea from the north. From the east to the west, it has the borders with Perşembe , Altınordu , Gürgentepe ,Çamaş , Çatalpınar , Korgan and Kumru respectively. In the West, it has borders with the Ünye. The study area that located in the centre of Ordu is 39 km away from the city center. The subject of this study is the economic geography of Fatsa district. The aim of the study is to establish a connection between the economy of Fatsa district and its natural features, to determine the foundations on which the district economy is based, and to propose solutions to the detected issues. In this sense , literature reviews were conducted, field studies were conducted, maps were prepared, and data from public institutions were collected and interpreted. According to the 2021 ABPRS, the population of the district is 124,255. The study area , which has a typical Black Sea climate, has flat-leaved forests. The main economic activity in the study area is agriculture and animal husbandry. In agricultural production, hazelnuts and kiwi stand out among fruits, while tomatoes come to the fore among vegetables. In the district , sheep and goat farming is more prefered than cattle farming. With the natural and cultural attractions of the study area , the tourism potential is high and coastal tourism comes to the forefront.
