IIIABSTRACTTHE EFFECTS OF WORKSHEETS ON THE LOGICAL THINKINGABILITIES ON THE EDUCATION OF SCIENCE LESSONSAy egül BOZDO ANMSc Thesis, Primary Department of Primary EducationSupervisor:Asist. Prof. Doç.Dr. Nuri EMRAHO LUApril 2007, 152 pagesThe main purpose of this research is to assign the effects of worksheets on thelogical thinking and the attitude of the students on the education of science. Theresearch has been conducted with an exprimental model of a controled previous and thefinal test group.The research has been conducted on the middle of 2005-2006 semester with the7 th class students of Adana / Seyhan Org. Bedrettin Demirel Primary School. There wastotaly 50 students, 25 from the group of controlled students and 25 from experimentgroup.The experiment and control groups has been predicated with the personalinformation forms which has been applied before the research. The experiment and thethcontrol group has been chosen objectively. The sexuality and the 6 class sciencegrades of the students tried to be equal.In the research to measure the ability of logical thinking of the students, ?logicalthinking group test? (LTGT), has been exercised. And to measure the attitude of thestudents against science, ?Attitude Scale Towards Science?(ASTS) has beenexercised. According to this before the education with the worksheets and experiment tothe group of controled students, ?logical thinking group test? (LTGT) and ?AttitudeScale Towards Science?(ASTS) has been exercised. Afterwards the unit ?what if therewas no pressure? has been studied with the experiment group students by theworksheets and it has been studied with the group of controlled students by the normalmethod. At the end of the unit, ?logical thinking group test? (LTGT) and ?AttitudeScale Towards Science?(ASTS) has been exercised as a final test.IVIn the analysis of gained data, statistical processes, t-test, mean ( x ), standartdeviation (s), frequency (f), percentage (%) and double factored anova are used.Statistical processing is made at the SPSS 11.0 program. Whether the gained data ismeaningful or not is evaluated according to .05 significant levels.It is occured that there is a meaningful difference between the science lessons andthe last logical thinking group test of the students who are educated with worksheetsand experiments and the ones who are educated with the traditional methods (controlgroup). Also it is obtained that there is a big difference between the last and the first testresults of the experiment group.At the end of the last practice , there is not a big difference between the logicalthinking group test and measures of the attitudes to science lessons test about their sexesof the students who are educated with worksheets and experiments and the ones who areeducated with the traditional methods (control group).As per the research it can be stated that the education with the worksheet has apositive effect on the logical thinking and the attitude of the students on the education ofscience lessons.Key Words:, Worksheets, Logical Thinking, Solving Problem, Attitudes to Science,Teaching Science.
