Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to teach Science Education II. The aim of this course is to examine in detail the learning approaches of class students about acids and bases. In addition, the study aims to reveal misconceptions about acids and bases in students. Phenomenographic research method was used in this study. The research group of the study consists of 20 students studying in Science Teaching program. Purposeful sampling method was used to determine the study group. Therefore, the aim of the study is to conduct interviews with students who have difficulty in learning or understanding while studying chemistry and have low marks in chemistry exams. In this study, individual semi-structured interviews were conducted as a data collection tool. Interviews consisting of two stages were conducted with 20 students whose General Grade-III (Analytical Chemistry) course grade was below 50 points. In the first phase of the interviews, participants were asked a series of questions about chemistry and some chemical concepts. In the second stage, the participants were asked the equation question and the gap filling questions about acids and bases to think and solve in detail. As a result of the evaluations made, when the answers given by the participants were taken into consideration, it was found out that the students did not like chemistry because it was a difficult lesson and they could not reconcile with their daily life and they did not want to work because they were biased against the lesson. The participants think that they should learn chemistry because of their career expectations. The majority of the participants could not deepen their learning and realized the superficial learning situation about the acids and bases that the students should learn. It has been determined that physics and chemistry courses come to the forefront among the courses that science teacher candidates do not like. In addition, it was found out that students had different misconceptions about acids and bases.
