Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to determine the awareness levels of prospective science teachers regarding the concept of biomimicry. In this direction, the awareness levels of prospective teachers were examined in terms of gender, class level, the environment they live in, the state of being interested in technology and discussing technology with the people around them. The sample of the study was selected by purposeful sampling. As a result, the study was carried out with 151 prospective science teachers studying at two state universities in the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. In this study, the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research methods, was employed. Personal information form and Biomimicry Awareness Scale were used as data collection tools. The data obtained were analyzed by statistical methods (t-test, variance one-way analysis) using the SPSS 18.0 package program. Consequently, it was seen that the awareness levels of the prospective science teacher about the concept of biomimicry did not differ significantly according to the variables of gender, class level, the environment they live in and the state of discussing technology with the people around them. On the contrary, it was determined that this type of awareness differed significantly only according to the variable of being interested in technology. In future studies, applied studies on this subject can be done with pre-service teachers for smaller groups.
