Subject and methodological process orientations in postgraduate theses titled "Science Education" and "Science Teaching": 2017-2022

One of the competencies that individuals growing up in the developing world must have is the scientific literacy. The first lesson in which individuals are introduced to science is the science course. Therefore, studies on science education and training are very important. For this reason, this research aimed to synthesize the postgraduate theses published in the field of science education with science teaching and to determine their common and different aspects. In this research, the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. Data were collected from 271 postgraduate theses located in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, whose full text was accessible, written between 2017 and 2022, while containing at least one of the concepts of science teaching or science education in the title. According to the data obtained from the document analysis results; the most postgraduate theses on science education and training were published in 2022, most of the postgraduate theses examined were master's theses, the university where the most postgraduate theses were written was Kastamonu University, the most postgraduate theses were written in Turkish, the most recurring keyword was science education, The branch in which the most postgraduate theses are written is science education, the most studied subject is students' attitude, motivation, belief and academic success towards science according to different variables, physical science is the most emphasized, the most secondary school students are selected as the sample, the most common sampling method is very convenient sampling method is preferred, quantitative research methods are used the most, scales are chosen the most as data collection tools, 4-5 weeks are mostly allocated for applications, MS Office programs are mostly used apart from data analysis programs, and lastly, data analysis is mostly used in It was concluded that the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) program and Student's t -test were used.
