Feragat edilmiş devrim: Etiyopya devriminin anlamdırılması süreci ve müteakip sosyal hareketler üzerindeki etkisi

The Ethiopian revolution is may be among the most debated but least understood revolution in Africa. The three political questions; Land to the Tiller, the question of nationalities and demand for democracy that determined the political landscape of the country for five decades are the result of the revolution. The various explanations about the revolution mainly came from analytic oversimplification which lacks the capacity to give complete sense of the revolution. Most scholarly works engaging on identifying similarities between the Ethiopian revolution and revolutions elsewhere in Europe and Asia failed to unearth the special and complex nature of the Ethiopian polity and their revolution. This study consistently focuses on the importance of taking the whole picture of the revolution so that previous objects of explanation didn't become the ultimate explanatory factors of the revolution. The state social and political changes that were sources of grievances for most part of the society that latter made some sub-groups more active insurrectionary than others are discussed. The research covers the two broad categories of revolutionary making factors as conventional and compromised making factors in a comparative historical analysis approach. The research affirms the primeval problems of 1974 Ethiopian revolution and the impacts of political and social changes of the preceding periods cannot be fully understood unless the revolutionary watersheds in the Muslim dominated peripheries and struggles for recognition in the urban centers are fully addressed. Finally it concluded that the framing process and framing factors played the major role in determining the underlying causative factors while the actual making factors are compromised and missed from the revolutionary narratives.
