In this study, we investigate the effects of financial anxiety and financial literacy on individuals' mental accounting processes which is a cognitive mechanism used to organize, evaluate, and keep track of their financial activities. A survey study among university students in Turkey is conducted. By utilizing the collected data, we conducted statistical analyses to examine the effects of students' financial anxiety and financial literacy levels over the three main components of mental accounting which are the framing of gains and losses, budgeting, and choice bracketing.
