An in-vitro evaluation of shear bond strength of two different fluoride releasing sealant materials

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate shear bond strength of two different fluoride releasing sealent materials. 105 extracted, noncaries human upper premolars were divided randomly into 3 groups (n=35). Experimental groups were; Group 1: TransbondTM XT primer (3M Unitek,Monrovia,CA,USA) was applied on bracket bonded surface, Group 2: Opal Seal™( Opal Orthodontics,South Jordan,Utah,USA) was applied on bracket bonded surface, Group 3: Pro SealTM (Reliance Orthdontic Products,Itasca,IL,USA) was applied on bracket bonded surface. After all samples was etched with %37 orthofosforic acid (Panora 200,Imicryl Diş Malzemeleri,Konya,Türkiye) ; TransbondTM XT primer applied to Group 1, Opal Sea™l to Group 2 and Pro SealTM to Group 3. According manufacturer curing time card, all samples were light cured with Valo Cordless Curing Light(Ultradent, South Jordan, Utah, USA). Brackets (0.018 inch Master Series, American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, Wisconsin,USA ) were bonded with TransbondTM XT (3M Unitek, Monvoria, CA, USA) adhesive on accurate position. All samples were waited on 370 C distelled water for 24 hours after that they were treated with 5000 cycle 50C-550C thermalcycling process. With universal test machine, on bracket bonded surface-enamel surface shear force were appleid with 0.5mm/min pace and then they were examined with Stereomicroscope for adhesive remnant index evaluation. Shear bond strenght test results evaluated with Shapiro-Wilk, Levene and one way ANOVA variance analysis. There was no statiscal difference between groups shear bond strenght (p>0,05). Adhesive Remnant Index findings evaluated with Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U. Group 1 and Group 3 is different from each other (p<0,05), Group 1 and Group 2 different from each other (p <0.05) but Group 2 and Group 3 has no difference (p>0.05).
