Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study is to research effects of sublethal concentrations of Fluvalinate, which is a synthetic prethyroid, on antioxidant enzymes activities and lipid peroxidation in female guppies (Poecilia reticulata Peters, 1859). Guppies were exposed to sublethal doses of Fluvalinate [(96 h, LC50:0,026 μg/L), (0.0033, 0.0065 ve 0.063μg/L)] in four different timeframes (0, 24, 48 and 72 hours) during 96 hours. After the experiment, the fish were anesthetized with clove oil (%85-95 eugenol (4- ally-methoxyphenol-C10H12O2), %5-15 isoeugenol ve methyleugenol). Tissues were taken with the help of stereo microscopes. To determine oxidative effects of Fluvalinate, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px), Catalase enzyme activities (CAT), levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) on muscles and gill tissues were detected through spectrophotometric methods. Subletal fluvalinate doses caused a significant decrease in antioxidant activity (SOD, GSH-Px and CAT enzyme activities) compared to the control group, MDA levels increased significantly compared to the control group (p ≤ 0.05). In this study, fluvalinatenin has oxidative stress on Poecilia reticulata Peters, 1859 and can be used as a biomarker in the determination of toxicity.
