Identificatin of extraction condition of taxans from hazelnut plant leaves

Cancer is a group of malicious diseases which develop unrestrained via a number of altered cells at local or non-local sections. Because of that natural compounds gain interest increasingly. One of the most effective medicines that used to treat canser is paclitaxel. Paclitaxel and derivatives are taxan class compounds. Taxans are alkoloids with complex stracture which belongs to taxus familia in diterpene class. Plants are used to make raw materials for medicine in traditional, supportive or alternative medicine. Paclitaxel and its side chains are naturally found in hazelnut plant leaves as well as in yew tree, in the studies. Taxol, synthesis aside, can be isolated from different type of hazelnut plant leaves. Our purpose is purification of paclitaxel, 10-deacetilbaccatin, sefalomanin and baccatin ııı from hazelnut plant leaves. In this study, extractions with different timing are compared. As the first step different types of hazelnut plant leaves collected from different locations of Turkey. Suitable extraction methods are applied to obtain paclitaxel from hazelnut plant leaves. After purification process, some analyses are going to be made to detememine paclitaxel quantity. HPLC method is going to be used in quantification process.
