Abstract (EN)
In this study, antibacterial coatings, inorganic-organic hybrid, activated by fluorescent lamps and synthesized using a photosensitizer (PS) dye-containing sol-gel method, have been obtained. Toluidine Blue O (TBO), Methylene Blue (MB) and Rose Bengal (RB) have been used because of its broad spectrum antibacterial properties as PS dye material. Investigation of antibacterial properties of coatings have conducted against Escherichia coli (Gram negative), Staphylococous aureus (Gram positive) bacteria strain. In this study, modifications of PS dye material have been performed with 3-isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane (IPTES) in Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). Then, using a binder system containing 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GLYMO) and different silane compounds, have been prepared with coating solutions containing IPTES modified dye materials, this coating solution used glass surfaces have been coated by dipping method followed by curing process. Antibacterial activities have been investigated by activating the coatings with ordinary fluorescent lamps in different time periods. Hardness tests, adhesion tests, observations of changes in physical properties in water have been used to determine the physical properties of the coatings. The modification of the PS dye material with IPTES has been characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), 13C and 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy. UV-VIS-NIR Spectroscopy has been used for determining the light transmittance the characterization of the coatings, SEM techniques have been used for determining the coating composition morphology and coating thickness, EDX have been used for determining elemental composition. Consequently, an antibacterial coating material which has a long term effect under white light and sufficient mechanical properties to endure the conditions of daily life and which can provide self-hygiene without using water and chemicals.
