Abstract (EN)

Faure created important works for vocal and chamber music and greatly contributed to the progressing instrumental music with his sonatas. He is one of the most important names who helped constituting and growing the French music school. The violin sonata No.1 of Faure (op.13) discussed in this study is one of the most important works of violin literature and is among the most played violin sonatas today. There hasn't been any research on this frequently played sonata in Turkey, yet. In the first part of the study, the brief biography and music of Faure, in the second part, the musical movements in France in the 19th century and development of instrument music, in the last part Faure's 1st Violin Sonata are examined.
