Method criticism in gadamer

In this study, we drew a general framework for the method through Descartes and Dilthey and examined the possible criticisms of these two names through Gadamer. The first and second parts of our work were devoted to Descartes and Dilthey. In these parts, against Descartes, who established a transcendent subject and a transcendent method through a priori legality, the basis of Dilthey's envisioning an individual from the ground of history and the idea of a new hermeneutic method by criticising Descartes' transcendental method were discussed. When it comes to the third chapter, in which we deal with Gadamer, both Descartes was criticised, and the contradictions between Dilthey's historical individual and hermeneutic method were revealed. In this sense, Gadamer thinks that the truth will emerge neither with a transcendent method like Descartes nor with a hermeneutic method that feeds on epistemology like Dilthey. Instead, Gadamer argues that truth is an ontological matter and that this existential reality transcends the problem of method.
