Abstract (EN)
In urban areas, population has increased as a result of economic development, industrialization as well as natural population increase. Population increase has raised needs for housing in urban areas. Housing need hasn?t been met; poorly planned and insufficient shelters have emerged. The alteration in the habit of consumption and production, and use of fossil fuels has given rise to environmental degradation resulted with exhausting limited sources rapidly.There has been an increase in migration movement in Turkey in 1950s with the industrialization revolution in the World. Terror activities taking place in the south east of Turkey has caused the population in the small areas to migrate to urban areas. Diyarbakır is one of the most effected of these cities. People being affected as a result of migration have mainly inhabited in five different districts.Nesrin neighborhoods in Huzurevleri district is one of the places where those heavily dwelled. As a result of the circumstances, housing and its neighborhoods were chosen as the study field in the scope of sustainable planning oriented towards appropriate planning.Sustainability criterions have been analyzed in the case study by questionnaires that have been applied face to face.The evaluations have been done with the criteria of ,- Energy,- Design,- Materials,- Landscape and- Settlementand proposals have been improved. The obtained data is important as to be used by local municipalities in the studies of planning in the region.
