Abstract (EN)

The changing and developing world necessitates the emergence of new words. Language produces these words in its own structure, whether simple, derived or compound. The number of words formed by compounding in Turkic cannot be underestimated. Studies show that the Turkic language has resorted to compounding in historical periods as well as today. The subject of this thesis is the detection and classification of compound structures established through compounding in Garib-nâme, one of the works of the Old Oghuz Turkish period. It is seen that the studies conducted so far have mostly focused on derived words formed with derivational suffixes or that the words formed through compounding have only been determined and given as nouns or verbs. It is seen that the studies in this direction are insufficient or insufficient, especially in historical period texts. For this reason, we found it appropriate to examine and examine the subject of word formation through compounding in Garib-nâme. The aim of this thesis is to show that the compounding method is a method used as frequently as the derivation method with derivational suffixes and to bring to light the compound structures made with the compounding method in Garib-nâme. This study also reveals the richness of the vocabulary of the Turkish language with Garib-nâme. In the thesis, Kemal Yavuz's Garib-nâme I/I, Garib-nâme I/II, Garib-nâme II/I and Garib-nâme II/II were used as source works or databases for document analysis. Thus, compound words in Garib-nâme were scanned and identified and classified by creating grammatical categories. Each identified word was exemplified with the couplet in which it was first used in Garib-nâme.
