Abstract (EN)

Geographical indications are industrial property rights used to identify products originating or representing a region, attributed to their geographical origin in terms of quality, reputation or other characteristics. Geographical indication application is considered very important in terms of protecting the rights of the producers, increasing the product marketing opportunities and developing the regional economy. In the studies carried out within the scope of geographical indications in Turkey, there are studies on local consumers on a provincial or regional basis. The main purpose of this study is to determine the perception, awareness and purchasing behaviors of the students of the gastronomy and culinary arts department about products with geographical indication. Questionnaire technique was used as the data collection method for this study and 399 participants were reached. Normality test, reliability analysis, factor analysis, t test, Anova analysis, correlation analysis and regression analyzes were applied to evaluate the data. It was determined that the participants' gender, age, grade level and income level did not show a significant variability for all scales and sub-dimensions (p<0.05). In addition, it has been determined that the perception of product with geographical indication and its sub-dimensions (economic and cultural impact, quality and reliability perception) and product with geographical indication awareness and product with geographical indication purchasing behavior are significantly and positively correlated with each other.
