The thought of godhead at sufi scholars before Al-Ghazali

Since the beginning of the formatıve process of Islamıc Theology/Kalam, it's the most important subject is the thought of Godhead which contain different aspects such as The Ex-istence and the unity of Allah, the proofs of His existence and His unity, The attributes of Allah. The early period Sufis, who had formed an important aspect of Islamic thought, were also influenced by the theologians' arguments about the thought of Godhead. The major sufis such as Harith al-Muhasibi (d. 243/857), Abu Nasr al-Sarraj (d. 378/988), Abu Talib al-Makkî (d. 386/996), Abu Bakr al-Kalabadhi (d. 380/990), Ali al-Hujwiri (d. 465/1072), Abd al-Karim al-Qushayri (d. 465/1072), shaped the tradition of Sufi thought before al-Ghazali (d. 505/1111), they had a thought of Godhead due to their own perspectives and understandings. The principle of tawhid is also a very important issue for the Sufis. Because it forms the basis of the Islamic religion, such as, the existence and unity of Allah. Sufis as the theologians, employed evidence of creation (hudûs) and evidence of purpose and order (teleological argument) to prove the existence of Allah; they also employed/applied the bur-han-i temânu (the proof denies the existence of two Gods) to prove the unity of Allah. The sufis, who rejected the approach of Mu'tazila on the attributes of Allah, were more likely to be on the lines of the Ash'ari. They avoided revealing the attributes and the arbitrariness of attributes by refraining from being exposed in the description of attributes. The sufis tried to explain the relationship between Allah and the universe, which is the manifestation of Allah's attributes, by emphasizing his attributes of knowledge, wisdom and power, especially by centralizing the divine will. According to the sûfis, who sees a close connection between the divine will and His consent, the divine will does not prevent him the freewill of humanbeing.
