Investigation of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) gene polymorphism in children with dilated cardiomyopathy in gaziantep region

This study was aimed to evaluate the relationship between idiopatic dilated cardiomyopathy and angiotensin converting enzym I/D gen polimorfizm in Gaziantep region. In this study, we used 29 patients diagnosed as idiopatic dilate cardiomyopathy (16 male,13 female) and 100 healty control group (50 male,50 female). We used this 129 children to collected genomic DNA samples for all these two grups. The patients mean age was 3±4.2 and healty control group mean age was 7±8.53. These 129 children?s genomic DNA samples was taken by salt way from venous blood.In conclusion; we searched genetic polymorphism on patients wiht the diagnosed idiopatic dilate cardiomyopathy in Gaziantep region. We saw ACE I/D had a regional differences. In generally, ACE II gene polymorphism was the least and ACE ID gene polymorphism was most frequent gene polymorphism. We compared at control group and study group?s with statistical analiysed of ACE I/D gene polymorphyisim. We saw that patients who had II genotype were 7.625 more times under risk than patients with I/D genotype. In patient group, patients who had II genotype were 11.5 more times under risk compared to patients with DD genotype. We saw no relation between ejection fraction evaulations at diagnose and genetic polymorphism on DCMP?s. Whereas, patients who had II genotype diagnosed at early age compared with ID genotype. Patients, who had DD genotype diagnosed at older age compared to these groups. So, that patients who had I allels had more risk for early diagnoses. We saw that, patients who had II genotype were more chance to EF improvement compare to patients with ID genotype and DD genotype. There has been no statistical meaningfull difference between allels frequencies and DCMP.Finally; in Gaziantep region, II genotype is a risk faktor for DCMP, but we didn? t have enough patients so larger patients grups are required for furter studies.Key Words: ACE, ACE Gene Polymorphism, Dilate Cardiomyopathy
