Abstract (EN)
In this study, types of adhesives used in carpet sector of Gaziantep were investigated. Mainly, FTIR spectras were used for identifying type of adhesives, together with other visual examinations. It was observed that mostly polyvinylacetate (PVAc) type adhesives are being used in carpet industry. In addition to PVAc, lesser amount of other types, such as, styrene-acrylic and styrene-butadiene type are also used.In laboratory scale studies, PVAc homopolymer emulsion, PVAc acrylic copolymer and styrene acrylic copolymer emulsions were synthesized. Comparizon of laboratory scale synthesized samples with commercial equivalents were carried by FTIR and other way. The results showed that they are identical.Key Words: Gaziantep, Carpet, Adhesive, Emulsion.
