Abstract (EN)
Culture shows the existence of a nation in the historical process. In addition to geographical location, customs and traditions also play an important role in the emerge of culture. In this way, the Turkish nation has created a unique national culture with its language, customs and understanding of law for centuries. Despite living among various nations in different geographies, Turks have preserved their own culture. They have also widely continued the gift custom in this cultural context. In Turkish States, the concept of gift has generally been used in the meanings of placate, donation, cooperation and solidarity. For this purpose, Turks gave gifts to each other on various occasions. In particular, the gift had an important place in interstate relations and symbolized the power of states. During the period of the Ghaznavids, one of the powerful Turkish states in the Middle Ages, the tradition of gifts was kept in the foreground. Especially, there is mutual gift giving in the relations of Ghaznavids with Samanids, Karakhanids, Seljuks, Abbasids and Buwayhids. In the Ghaznavid State, there is also the custom of giving gifts among the members of the dynasty, in feast celebrations, official ceremonies and in many areas.
