Food production systems investigation in terms of occupational health and safety and risk analysis done for preventive measures

Occupational accidents and occupational diseases cause huge losses in our country and in the world. Death, injury, serious injury, incapacity to work are results of occupational accidents and diseases and our country is to pay a heavy price because of these. Occupational health and safety system is aimed to ensure the health and safety of human life, to loss of life and property and prevention of illness and to reduce potential risks related at these problems in a company. The main goal is to protect employees first. This system acting with the principle of 'prevention is cheaper than paying and more humanist' is one of the most important and dynamic systems in new century. It is started issued on occupational health and safety laws to take big steps for all sectors It is started to take big steps for all sectors with the law of occupational health and safety whose number is 6331 and effective date is 30.06.2012. It has decided to work in food products manufacturing sector due to the rapidly growing sector worldwide In this study, the occupational health and safety assesment in the food industry was carried out. On the purpose of a correct case study, it was selected industrial molasses production facility located in Malatya and it was made risk assesment by observing all fields of this facility. Particularly, two risk assessments were prepared using two different methods and these methods were compared with each other in order to find more producvtive one. In conclusion part, the hazards were evaluated according to productive risk assesment. The unreformed hazards sources was indicated owing to unrepair in guarantee period by given the specialists. Besides, preventive measures were reported detaily in this part. In addition, the other problems were mentioned generally in this sector. With evaluated the results, ensuring the safety of life, the prevention of financial losses, work accidents and occupational diseases and eliminate the possibility of pro-active steps towards elimination has been achieved in the company.
