Abstract (EN)

The voluntary termination of the pregnancy is an important problem in terms of female health that we confront. Unwanted pregnancies are usually terminated by abortion. Unplanned and unwanted pregnancy often causes emotions like distress, fear, indecision, anxiety, guilt and the woman becomes restless and stressful because of these complex emotions. This research is planned as a descriptive and cross-sectional study in order to analyze the effects of the anxiety experienced by women on their psychosocial condition. It is carried out right after the procedure with women who applied for termination of pregnancy at two foundation university hospitals and a private hospital in Istanbul. This research has been completed with participation of 90 women. "Survey Form" and Beck's Anxiety Inventory (BAI)" are used as data collection tools. Necessary institutional permits are acquired. The statistical analysis of the data is performed by using SPSS software. The average age of the women is happened to be 29,23 ± 7,66 years. The average "anxiety" level of the women is determined to be 22,356 ± 11,063 point according to BAI, thus they have medium level anxiety. According to the results of the study, the differences between the anxiety level with respect to educational background of the women and husbands , in high school graduates, women and husbands's anxiety levels was found hight from college-level ones. The anxiety level with respect to the duration between the previous pregnancy and the current one, as long as the decline is observed at the level of anxiety between pregnancies the anxiety level with respect to knowledge of contraceptive methods was found significantly. The level of anxiety of women who don't know their way through contraception contraception from women who know their way through anxiety levels were higher. As a result of the study, it is thought to be helpful to popularize the usage of family planning methods and to provide education services for women and their husbands about the abortion as it is not a family planning method.
