Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the historical development, techniques, cultural significance, and contemporary applications of basalt stone craftsmanship in Diyarbakır. This study will include an investigation of the region's architectural heritage, the tools and methods used for basalt stone carving, the socio-economic aspects of basalt stone craftsmanship, and the role of basalt stone structures in the identity of Diyarbakır. Additionally, the evolution of traditional basalt stone craftsmanship over time will be evaluated. While exploring the process of basalt stone craftsmanship from the past to the present in Diyarbakır, the study will also assess the impact of this process on the region's cultural, economic, and social structure. Differences between the historical use of basalt stone craftsmanship and its contemporary applications will be highlighted, and the future sustainability of basalt stone craftsmanship will also be discussed. The study will also address topics such as the impact of basalt stone craftsmanship on Diyarbakır's tourism potential and its contributions to cultural heritage.
