Abstract (EN)

This thesis study was conducted with the aim of "Examining the Relationship Between Personality Traits, Psychological Resilience, and Sportive Achievement Motivation in Traditional Wrestling Athletes." The research population consists of traditional wrestling athletes across Turkey, while the sample group is limited to a total of n=525 athletes participating in traditional wrestling disciplines selected from different regions of Turkey. The study was carried out within the framework of the descriptive research model, and during the data collection process, scale methods, comparative analysis, correlation, and regression analyses were applied. In the scope of the research, the "Five-Factor Personality Trait Scale" developed by Horzum, Ayas, and Padır (2017), the "Sports-Specific Achievement Motivation Scale" prepared by Tiryaki and Gödelek (1997), and the "Adult Psychological Resilience Scale" used by Arslan (2015) and Ungar and Liebenberg (2011) were utilized. Statistical analyses revealed significant differences in various variables. For the marital status variable, a significant difference was found in the individual resources subdimension of psychological resilience (p<0.018). Regarding the family income level variable, statistically significant differences were identified in the agreeableness subdimension of the five-factor personality traits (p<0.048) and the cultural-contextual resources subdimension of psychological resilience (p<0.044). According to the license year variable, significant differences were found in the power demonstration (p<0.03) and avoidance of failure (p<0.049) subdimensions of sportive achievement motivation. Based on the wrestling discipline variable, significant differences were observed in the agreeableness (p<0.049) and neuroticism (p<0.038) subdimensions of the five-factor personality traits, the approach to success (p<0.005) subdimension of achievement motivation, and the familial resources subdimension of psychological resilience (p<0.002). Low to moderate positive correlations were found among the survey subdimensions, and regression analysis revealed that the power demonstration and avoidance of failure subdimensions of sportive achievement motivation significantly predicted the psychological resilience levels of athletes. In conclusion, it was determined that there are relationships between the personality traits, psychological resilience, and sportive achievement motivation of athletes engaged in traditional wrestling, and these characteristics positively influence the general characteristics of the athletes.
