Investigation of traditional yalvaç houses in terms of materials and construction tecniques

Traditional houses are an important part of our cultural heritage. However, factors such as the changing life dynamics of our age, the lack of conservation awareness of the public, the abandonment of houses, the use of wrong materials and wrong techniques in housing repairs cause the gradual decrease of our traditional housing heritage. With each destroyed house, we not only lose a piece of our tangible cultural assets, but also the knowledge of the systems in which the houses are built, that is, a piece of our intangible cultural asset. Therefore, in this study, the materials and construction techniques used in the construction of traditional Yalvaç houses, which are important examples of traditional residential architecture, are analysed. The main aim of the study is to document the building materials and construction techniques used in Yalvaç houses before they are forgotten and to transfer them to future generations. In addition, it is thought that this study can be used in restoration applications to be made and will guide the correct restoration decisions. The study was carried out through interviews with local people, literature review and on-site inspections of the selected houses. As a result of the study, the data obtained on building materials and building elements were documented with drawings and photographs, and suggestions were made for the restoration applications to be made.
