Abstract (EN)

Aim: Teardrop figure is affected by many diseases that femoro-acetabular relation is corrupted and its shape changes. In this study, relation between the development and the shape of teardrop figure and the treatment results of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) patients were analyzed. Material and Method: 105 hips of 79 patients who have had pelvic osteotomy in their surgical treatment of DDH between years 1999-2012,with ages 24 months and over, at least 2 years of follow up period, are included in the study. Teardrop figure has been examined in AP pelvis radiographies using Kahle et all.'s subjective evaluation method (54). Clinical and radiological evaluation is made according to Modified Trevor Scoring. The relation between teardrop figure shape and clinical results is evaluated. Evidence: After the treatment acetabular teardrop figure of 105 hips has been observed. Teardrop figure shave been observed in 60 hips as narrow U, in 35 hips as wide U, in 8 hips as V shaped and in 2 hips as incomplet eshape. According to Modified Trevor Scroing system teardrop shape types average score is established 19 in narrow U shaped, 18.34 in wide U shaped, 18.50 in incomplete shape, 14 in V shaped. The patients with V shaped acetabular teardrop figure hips are determined from patients of treatment ages were 5 and over. Result: The post operative teardrop figure shape provides in formation about hip's clinical condition. It shows that the patients with narrow U shaped and wide U shaped teardrop figure are clinically and radiologically beter than the patients with V shaped teardrop figure. Also all the patients with V shaped teardrop figure hips are determined from patients of treatment ages were 5 and over. This data supports the idea that late treated patients results will be worse.
