Abstract (EN)

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed type of cancer in men and cancer-related deaths ranks second after lung cancer. In 2012, more than 1.1 million registered cases of prostate cancer and this number contains to 8% of all new cancers and 15% in men (World Cancer Research Fund International). Radiation dosimetry is one of the basic principles for the optimization of the medical irradiation. While the tumor dose is supposed to be maximum and homogeneous in the treatment irradiation, normal tissue complications that occur from the radiation should be in the acceptable range. Sophisticated irradiation equipment are now available and new treatment methods have been added to advanced technology. As a result, a more complex treatment with lower tolerable error limits are developed.
