Abstract (EN)

Boat building industry using polymer based thermoset composites has been faced with legislative limitations due to the recycling difficulties of related materials. To find the cost-effective solutions for this problem is one of the urgent agenda items of the researchers in the fields of materials and ship sciences. An alternative way of recycling activities in the life cycle of a boat was proposed in this study: usage of composite boats? waste material in the modification of bitumen based roof coating materials. In this context, boat building caused waste material was mixed with the asphalts rated as 160/220, 70/100, 50/70 and MC30 supplied by TUPRAS petrochemical refinery by the percentages of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 30% in weight. The tests on modified specimens listed below were performed after sieving in accordance with ASTMD451-91:?Penetration (TS EN 1426 / TS 11758)?Viscosity (ASTM 2196-99 / TS-132?Softening point (TS EN 1427 / TS 11758)?Breaking point (TS EN 1109 / TS EN 13164, LMT 058)?Yieldpoint (TS EN 1110, TS 13047, TS EN 544 / TS EN 13164, LMT058)?Aging (TS EN 60811 / TS 7202)Obtained results have been presented comparatively and to evaluate of performance of the mixture in time domain, aging tests have been performed. Above listed tests were repeated after aging and results of modificated specimens have been found better than control ones. Keywords : Ship originated waste materials, fiber-reinforced plastic composites, life cycle management
