The investigation of the therapeutic effect of adropin on gentamisin induced experimental nephropathy

Commonly used aminoglycoside antibiotics especially urinary tract infections which despite the attention to the pharmacokinetics and dose adjustments, the underlying continues to be a major problem in terms of nephropathy in patients. In this study, we aimed to exemine the therapeutic effect of adropin on gentamicin nephrotoxicity. Rats were divided into 4 groups: CONTROL GROUP: It was allowed to nutrition orally. Did not any injection. ADROPIN GROUP (5 pmol/kg/day): rats received daily (5 pmol/kg/day) dose of adropin intraperitoneal injections were performed. GENTAMICIN GROUP (100 mg/kg/day): rats received daily (100 mg/kg/day) dose of gentamicin intraperitoneal injections were performed. ADROPIN+GENTAMICIN GROUP (5 pmol/kg/day adropin+100 mg/kg/day gentamicin): rats received daily (5 pmol/kg/day) dose of adropin and (100 mg/kg/day) dose of gentamicin were performed simultaneously At the end of the study, blood samples for biochemical tests, renal tissue samples for immunohistochemical and TUNEL tests, were taken. Serum and tissue adropin levels are examined with ELISA. It is revealed with ELISA and immunohistochemically that the adropin levels of the kidney tissue of gentamicin given group was decreased. When compared with gentamicin given group, a decrement was detected on TUNEL positivity on adropin given group. In conclusion, our data revealed that the adropin levels decrease in renal failure and it can be thought that exogenous adropin can have a protective effect against developing renal injury.
