Abstract (EN)
The study has been conducted on the purpose of examination of germination characteristics and breakage of seed dormancy in milkvetch which is an important plant in terms of medical, erosion control and nectar source. This study has been processed in Field Crops Department in Antalya University Faculty of Agriculture between September 2018 and March 2019. Seeds, which were collected from three different area in Antalya, are subjected to various applications. Çeltikçi, Feslikan upland and Kızılcadağ regions were selected as the seed sources. In the study, there were different treatment such as sanding (30,60 and 120 seconds), soaking in sulphuric acid (12, 16 and 20 minutes), soaking in acetic acid (6 hours), soaking in gibberellic acid for 48 hours (in the concentrationof 300 and 500 ppm) and control. Study has been carried out, according to randomized pilot experimental design, in 0.5 lt pots and 45 celled viols as three replication. For the purpose of see the results of dormancy break applications, features of germination percentage(%), overall germination time(day), overall root length(cm), fresh root weight (g/plant), fresh shoot weight(g/plant) were examined. Apart from the main study, there was another study carried out in incubation cabinet for determinate the germination temperature. In this study, results of main study has been considered and the seeds, which were collected from Feslikan upland, were used by sanding 60 seconds. In order to examine the effects of different temperatures 10, 17, 24, 31 and 38 centigrade degree were studied. As a result of experiment, the highest values were obtained by the seeds of Feslikan uplands in the consequence of sanding application. As a result of the studies, in order to break the physical dormancy of seeds, best values were obtained in the applications of sanding, sulphuric acid, gibberellic acid and acetic acid in order. In consequence of temperature examination, the highest rates of germination were obtained in 10, 17, 38, 31 and 24 centigrade degree in order. In total, it is observed that as the temperature increased, germination in different rates accelerated but the germination rate decreased.
