Abstract (EN)

Electric vehicles (EVs) are an area that needs to be studied today, as they not only contribute to the economies of countries in the context of dependence on oil but also support more livable and sustainable urban areas. The location selection of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) is one of the most important issues that will improve and increase the use of electric vehicles. In this respect, the purpose of this study is to find suitable locations of the electric vehicle charging stations by combining Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques and Multiple-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods. Maltepe, Kartal, Umraniye, and Atasehir districts, which belong to the city of Istanbul, are determined as a working area and study is carried out for these districts. In this study, the criteria to be used in the study have been decided first, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to calculate the weights of these selected criteria. The weighted criteria and the data layers of the districts were analyzed with the help of site selection analysis tools provided by GIS. In the result analysis, the areas where battery stations can be installed in the current working area were determined according to the degree of suitability. The results offer suggestions for forward-looking planning and strategies. With the help of the fields identified by the suitability analysis, 14 alternative station locations have been decided. These station locations provide us with an idea for new battery stations to be installed in the future.
