Abstract (EN)

Today, cities face significant challenges and face various dangers due to the negative effects of climate change, uncontrolled urbanization and rapid population growth. However, cities and all socio-ecological systems connected to it are changing at an unpredictable speed. It is of great importance for planning discipline that the changes and complex urban systems are dealt with in a more defined way. The concept of resilience is examined in detail in this thesis because it is an important basis in sustainability scenarios for mitigating the effects of rapid urbanization problem which is one of the important problems of the world. In this study, it is analyzed with the GISP (Spatial Planning of Green Infrastructure) approach whether the socio-ecological system characteristics of Van / Edremit will resist the changes in land use. In line with the approach, green infrastructure benefit criteria were mapped in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) environment. As a result of the analyzes and evaluations made in the study, it was found that Edremit green infrastructure systems play an important role in providing urban resistance. But; It is foreseen that the problems that may arise with the pressure of urbanization may decrease the urban resistance. In this context, urban policies and spatial strategies should be defined and implemented in parallel with the characteristics and values of the locality.
