Özet (EN)

Gliomas are the most common primary intracerebral tumors in adults. Most glial tumors have poor prognosis. The incidence of glioma is 3-5 / 100,000. The average survival in high grade glial tumors is 15 months. Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase-1 (IDO 1) appears to play an important role in cancer immunotherapy due to its role in the escape of cancer cells from the immune system. IDO-1 stimulate the cell cycle of cancer cells and lead to multiple drug resistance to chemotherapeutic agents. Overexpression of IDO-1 has been associated with poor prognosis in some cancers. Demonstration of IDO-1 expression in glial tumors; Treatments targeting IDO-1 will be strategic new targets that can be used in the treatment of glial tumors. In this study, the relationship of IDO-1 expression with clinicopathological parameters in patients with glial tumor was investigated. This study included 25 control brain tissues, 25 low-grade glial tumors (grade 1-2), 25 high-grade glial tumors (grade 3-4). IDO-1 expression was categorized as "low" and "high" IDO-1 according to the cut-off value obtained by ROC analysis. The expression levels of IDO-1, the relationship between the clinicopathological features of the cases and survival were evaluated using the Kaplan Meier and cox regression analysis with a 95% confidence interval and p <0.05 statistical significance. In our study, IDO-1 expression was higher in high-grade glioma cases than in normal brain-textured cases (p <0.001), but there was no significant difference between low-grade glioma cases and normal brain-tissue cases (p> 0.05). IDO-1 expression was higher in high grade cases than in low grade cases (p= 0.001). A negative correlation was found between IDO-1 expression levels and mean survival (OS), IDO-1 expression levels were seen to affect the mean survival (OS) as an independent prognostic factor (p= 0.001). High IDO-1 levels can be evaluated as a molecule that shows poor prognosis in glial tumors and can also be used to predict OS. Today, where target therapies are at the forefront, IDO-1 targeted therapies may be an important therapeutic target for glioblastoma multiforme in the future.
