Abstract (EN)

This study were carried out in Göksu Delta, one of Turkey's largest, sensitive and risky wetland systems, to monitor the groundwater quality and to determine the potential risk of contamination. The groundwater sampling was managed within May 2012 and April 2013, representative of one year period. The Goksu in 13 wells and Silifke in 12 wells, which are DSI groundwater observation wells, were determined subsequent to physical and chemical parameter changes of groundwater samples were observed at monthly intervals. pH was examined in the range 7.5-8.19 illustrates alkaline characteristics in Göksu Delta groundwater. The alluvial aquifer in Göksu Delta shows predominance of EC, TDS, Cl- ions concentration. The values of its ions in the coastal zone area due to seawater intrusion and agricultural activities. According to EC and TDS values, 60% of wells can be use of agricultural land irrigation. Also approximately 30% of wells are available for irrigation water as long as the quality is to take some precautions in Göksu Delta. According to the Cl- ion evaluated 18.9% of wells are risky and dangerous, 23% of wells are harmful-unsuitable waters for irrigation class. Showing the SAR and RSC were observed to be within safe limits. The non-fluctuation and high concentration values of SO42- can be expression of the seawater intrusion. NO3- values not seen very high in results however it was seen as having reached the level to express the agricultural impact. The results of the cation analysis indicates anthropogenic effects and insoluble rocks are dominant factors of shallow aquifer waters. In aim to determinate all the parameter trends of water quality are evaluated with eachothers statistically. The geographic information system (GIS) was applied to illustrate the trend of groundwater contamination. The results that obtained were assessed by using a number of national and international standards and classifications. In this evaluation standarts, there had not been exceeded a limit values except for Na+ values. The groundwater were classified as groundwater hydrochemical facies type (Piper and Schoeller) and quality of irrigation water (Wilcox and the U.S. salinity diagram). This diagrams showed that influence of the seawater and have been identified as the very salty waters class. The heavy metal values are usually found to be very low.
