Evaluation of the quality, content and use of web based sexual health education for visual impaired individuals

Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the quality, content and usage of web-based sexual health education for visually impaired individuals. Method: This is a methodological and descriptive study. In order to evaluate the web content and quality of the study, 16 experts' opinions were taken, 8 in the field of sexuality and sexual health, 8 in the field of visually impaired education and Web Accessibility Criteria. In the study, no sample was calculated, and 35 people who were members of Antalya White Walking Stick Association complied with the criteria for inclusion in the sample. DISCERN Guide, Web Based Sexual Health Education Web Content Evaluation Form, Personal Information Form, System Usability Scale and Web Page Evaluation Form for Visually Impaired Individuals were used to collect data. SAS 9.4 package program was used for statistical analysis of data to evaluate the use of the web page. Results: The average score of 15 questions in the DISCERN Guideline was 4.78 ± 0.2 out of 5 (Kendall's W = 0.899, p = 0.000). The Web Content Assessment Form received 3.58 ± 6.42 points from four groups of experts (Kendall's W = 0.441, p = 0.000). In line with these results, it was found that experts evaluated web content appropriately. 97.00 ± 2.83 points were obtained from the System Usability Scale regarding the use of the website. The most useful modules on the website were found to be sexual health and rights (42.86%), human body and development (37.17%), pictures and descriptions used (20.00%). Conclusion: The website has been used effectively and smoothly by visually impaired individuals. In order to improve the quality of life of visually impaired individuals, sexual health education should be conducted by family, teachers and health professionals in a comprehensive, effective and cooperative manner in accordance with the learning methods of visually impaired individuals.
