V A RESEARCH ON VARIATION LIMITS DURUM BREEDING OF SOUTHEAST ANATOLIA REGION Çetin KARADEMİR 1997/Sayfa: 39 ABSTRACT în this study, variation limits for some characters and origins of the material were determined in the 157 winter durum wheat lines or cultivars. The ranges in the studied characters were; height 80-135 cm, winter survival note 4- 6 (1 winterhardy, 10 susceptible), days to flower 129-136 (from January 1), spike lenght 4.2-8.6 cm, spikelets per spike 15.2-24.2, kernels per spike 15.4- 54, 1000 kernel weight 28.5-46.5, g test weigt 69-83 kg/hi. While % 45 of the material was coming from the national programs, only % 55 was coming from international sources. About % 20 of national material has been local populations. Foreign material were mainly from İCARDA, U.S. A, Romania and Italy. Key Words: Triticum durum, variation limits, yield, correlation, local population
