Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the surface-material interaction in contemporary art, which has been the subject of the Master's degree, is examined and analyzed. The main theme of the study is how and in what form this interaction can be transferred to pictorial expression. In the historical process of the art of painting, the material that makes the pictorial expression strong and the way it is used has always been an impressive factor. Art, which has existed and been shaped together with human beings since prehistory, has transformed itself as the ages have changed and developed, and has signed an evolutionary process. The art of painting, which was dominated by the traditional understanding of art for a long time, has entered into a completely new and extraordinary adventure since the end of the 19th century. In this process, the art of painting has revealed the expression of individual attitudes that question the methods and materials in the traditional form of expression. Within the scope of this attitude and the ongoing questioning process, experiments on the surface were realized. As a result of the investigations and examinations, attempts have been made towards the limits of the surface and the diversity of the material. As a result of the idea of the inadequacy of the flat surface and the belief that the idea of art should develop and change, artists turned to new searches in the early 20th century. . During these searches, the collage technique was introduced by the artists of the period within the Cubism movement, which is considered as the breaking point of this century. The inclusion of a foreign material other than the painting element on the surface paved the way for innovative art approaches. With the 20th century's ongoing and rapidly progressing artistic ideas and the intensification of technological developments, interdisciplinary interactions were observed in the art of painting. The postmodern process, which has multiplied exponentially since the 1960s, has also influenced today's contemporary art and enabled the creation of original, original works. In this thesis study, in which qualitative research methods were used, the data obtained, the works examined and analyzed were examined in line with the examples of these contemporary approaches in contemporary art, which have been sustained and delivered to the present day, and the effects and reflections of the changes in the forms of production and the multidisciplinary attitudes in the creation process were revealed.
