Abstract (EN)
In this study, the expressions of apology in contemporary Turkey Turkish within the framework of Speech Acts Theory are evaluated based on the findings obtained by scanning 7 literary works (novels, stories and theater works). In the study, firstly, the Speech Acts Theory is analyzed. The historical development of Speech Acts Theory and the views of Austin, who first systematically presented the theory, and Austin's student Searle on the theory were examined. The findings part of this study consists of two stages. In the first stage, the study was conducted on 7 literary works wiritten after the 2000s in contemporary Turkey Turkish. First, literary works were scanned and the apology expressions obtained were classified. In addition, the listener's feedbacks against apology expressions were analyzed as verbal feedbacks and nonverbal feedbacks. In addition, the apology expressions in the database were evaluated sociolinguistically. In the second stage of the study, the frequency and functionality of apology expressions were evaluated by comparing the data provided by the TUD database with the data obtained from literary works.
