Abstract (EN)

Aim : The aim of the study is the comparison of basic traditional wrestling techniques and peer teaching methods in teaching free wrestling basic techniques to middle school students. Materials and methods: This study conducted with 50 female and male students who had not done wrestling before due to some ilnesses and inability to continue. Some free wrestling skills were taught to peer tutors for 4 weeks, 2 hours a day, 8 hours in total, in a way that other students could not see.The practice continued after the peer tutors who acquired wrestling skills taught these skills to their peers. The control group, on the other hand, was taught by applying the same techniques as the traditional teaching method by the trainer. The application of the skills recorded with the video system was sent to the evaluators and their evaluations were taken without specifying that there were experimental and control groups. Findings: According to the t-test results between the Experimental and Control groups, while there were significant differences in the skills of 'armbar legsweep', there was no difference in the skill of 'arm drag'.While there was a difference in the skill of armdrag in women (p<05), there was no difference in the skills of arm drag, single-leg takedown and double-leg takedown(p> 0.5). There is a significant difference in the post-test scores of men in the skills of "armbar legsweep" and "double-leg takedown" (p< 0.5). There was no significant difference in the skills of "single leg takedown" and "arm drag " (p>0.5). As a result of the statistical analysis made on the total scores of the techniques, it was seen that the values of the experimental group were statistically higher than the values of the control group. Results: According to the results of our research, when the Peer teaching model and the traditional teaching model were compared in the teaching of Wrestling basic skills, it was concluded that the Peer teaching model was more effective in terms of skill total scores.
