Effect of noise for hospitalized patient's night's sleep and vital signs in intensive care unit

Abstract (EN)
Noise is defined as unwanted sound and discomfort. In particular, hospitals, hotels and places such as nursing homes as sensitive areas are required to have very low noise levels. But the noise is a significant problem for the intensive care unit. The World Health Organisation suggest that the night of 35 decibels to 40 decibels during the day in unit of patient. The aim of the study patients in the intensive care unit of the noise night's sleep and to examine the ımpact on vital signs. The universe as a descriptive study, all of the patients hospitalized in Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit of Cukurova University, conforming to the limitations of th study sample, 18 years later and consisted of 83 patients who accepted to participate. SPSS 18.0 software package was used for istatistical analysis of the data. Before study, necessary permits are obtained, ethics council of the institution, dean the faculty of medicine and hospital chief physician. In collecting the data, the demographic and sleep on the status of the data, where the "Patient Identification Form", sleepiness in the assessment "Richard's Campbell Sleep Questionnare", pain in assessing "Visual Analog Scale", the intensive care unit noise level to detect the sound level meter, vital signs measure in order for the patient monitoring and thympanic thermometer was used. In conclusion of study, decibel average noise level was found to be 52.04 ± 5.75. 75% of patients have reported having problems sleeping due to the noise; condition causing the alarm to sound at the beginning of the noise had come from, the most obvious of sleep and frequent awakenings was determined that the complaints (p>0.05). In accordance with the results obtained from the research, Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit patients experience sleep problems at the beginning of the influential factors of the ambient noise and noise to minimize the factors that cause most of the suggestions have been made for.
