Abstract (EN)

Individuals face many difficulties due to misuse of computer and internet. Children suffer most from these difficulties. This makes it necessary for parents who are always with their children need to be informed about the safe use of computers and the internet. In this study, education of safe computer and internet usage were given to parents and after that the opinions of parents about this education were examined. This study consisted of 14 volunteered parents of students attending 5th and 6th grades in a public secondary school in Bartın province. The data of the study was obtained by a semi-structured interview form and a personal information form containing demographic characteristics, prepared by the researchers after obtaining expert opinion. Qualitative method and content analysis were used in the research to analyse the data. In the findings, the opinions of the parents on the use of safe computers and internet were examined. It was seen that parents who participated in the course about safe internet and computer use have a goal of self-improvement. When the purpose of the parents' participation in course were examined; to learn about the use of safe internet and to complete their deficiencies, to learn how to use the computer, to help their children and to adapt themselves to technology were specified. At the end of the education, the parents stated that they learned about the security of password, mobile security, sharing of information (such as sharing of personal information), the use of malware, the use of antivirus and the benefits of safe internet usage in providing information security.
