Abstract (EN)

Hadith commentaries undertook the task of establishing a link between the hadiths and the classical works containing these hadiths and the following periods. The type and amount of information they contain differ in each commentary. The commentaries with rich content written in the 7-10th centuries of the Hijri differ from the previous commentaries in that they contain information about the socio-cultural structure more intensely. Fath al-Bari written by Ibn Hajar is one of the most important commentaries which have rich content. The way in which Ibn Hajar used sociocultural information in his commentary, the intensity of this information in his commentary, and the extent to which this information contributes to the understanding of the hadiths are the subjects of our study. The in-text and extra-text information provided by Ibn Hajar and his explanations on the use of language greatly contribute to the understanding of hadiths. The Commentator (Sharih) makes these explanations by taking into account the language-culture interaction and that language is created and shaped by the needs of a culture as it changes. Ibn Hajar's methods of using socio-cultural information in various ways in Fath al-Bari reveal his effort to reveal the meaning in the hadiths in all aspects. This attitude of the commentator points to the idea that the text can be understood in its own context. These approaches in Fath al-Bari indicate that Ibn Hajar sees hadiths as texts that cannot be perceived independently of culture. Keywords: Ibn Hajar, Fath al-Bari, Sociocultur, Commentary (sharh), Hadith.
