Determining and comparing the antropometric measurements of the folk dancers of anatolion folk dance and Horon regions

The folk dance is the part of our colourful culture, divided regions according to characteristic features of region and the life style of people. This study is aimed to compare the anthropometric measurement of folk dancers of halay and horon region.For the study. 10 male dancers of halay region were taken. Their subcutaneous fat measurement is done by skin fold calliper, measurement of surrounding was made by gullick band and measurement of diameter by anthropometric set.At the measurement of the triceps, sub scapular and abdomen of the halay and horon group the positive meaningful difference for halay group determined as (p? 0,01), (p?0,05) The results of the measurement of right side?s surroundings are determined positively for the horon group. These are the measurement of neck surrounding, biceps, chest, leg, elbow, upper leg, front arm at the left side the measurement of front arm, biceps, elbow, upper leg, leg and calf was determined more higher than horon group.For the statically analysis the SPSS programme (version 11.5) was used. Mann-Whitney-U test was used to calculate the differences of groups after the calculation of arithmetic average and standard deviation of obtained findings.Conclusion: Although the dance sport isn?t a new sports discipline, the results which were obtained in accordance to the qualities and quantity of researches which were realized on dancing sportsmen proof that it isn?t sufficiently examined. It has been observed in this study that, depending on the frequencies and strength of the motions, that fat rates and diameter measures of the folkloric ?Horon? dancers are lower than the ones of the folkloric ?Halay? dancers. As a result; the features of the motions are an important criterion for the constitution of the physical suitability of the dance. However, we consider that there is a needfor detailed studies which will contribute to the evaluation of the qualities and quantities of the body compositions by examining the motions of the ?Halay? and ?Horon? dancers.Key words; Horon, Halay; Anthropometric measurement.
