Examination of the expectations of the public from local governments regarding sports services (Gümüşhane case)

This research was carried out in order to determine the expectations of the people living in Gümüşhane province from local governments about sports services. For this purpose, 450 participants living in the province and districts of Gümüşhane reached the sample of the research. In the study, which was carried out as a general survey, the survey technique was used as the data collection method. The "expectations of the public from municipalities about sports services" questionnaire used in the research was developed by Çoban (2002). Descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the research data. In the analysis of data; frequency distribution (n), percentage (%), Mann-Whitney U Test and chi-square (χ2) test were used. As a result of the research; that the need for movement in urban life is a problem; people have little free time; people mostly prefer to do sports in mountain-nature environment; municipalities have a high responsibility for sports services; the most requested sports services are children's playgrounds, jogging park and indoor sports halls; they are of the opinion that they are not sufficiently aware of sports services and that the opinions of the public should be sought in the construction of these areas; It has been concluded that success in sports services will contribute positively to political success. According to demographic characteristics in the research, there is no significant difference in needs, demands and expectations of sports services according to gender; It has been concluded that there are significant differences according to their age, occupation, income status, marital status, and place of residence in terms of which sports services the municipalities should bring to their districts as a priority.
