Abstract (EN)

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of kinesio taping in healthy individuals at different tension on pressure pain threshold and pain tolerance. Method: This randomized controlled and double-blind study was performed on 90 healthy male subjects with an average age of 21.04 ± 2.0 years. The subjects were randomized into four groups as placebo (0% tension- n=23), 50% tension (n= 24) , 75% tension (n=22) and 100% tension groups (n=21). The kinesio tape was applied from distal to proximal, exposing the lateral epicondyl region on the dominant side. Pressure pain threshold and pain tolerance were measured using digital algometer over the lateral epicondyle. Measurements were carried out, before taping, immediate after taping and 30 min. after taping. Results: When the data were analyzed, it was seen that the kinesio taping applied at different tensions had no effect on pressure pain threshold and pain tolerance (p> 0.05). Discussion: The results of the study showed that kinesio taping applied to lateral epicondyle at different tensions in healthy individuals had no effect on pain threshold and tolerance. Key Words: pressure pain threshold, pain tolerance, kinesiotaping, algometer.
