Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to determine the opinions of classroom teachers about the application of the blended teaching model in primary schools during the pandemic period. The limited number of studies on primary school and the fact that the studies were more experimental made the subject interesting. The results we obtained as a result of primary school teachers applying the blended teaching model in their classrooms aim to contribute to the elimination of this deficiency. In this study, which is a qualitative research, case study design was used. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the interview method was preferred, and semi-structured interview technique, one of the interview techniques was used. Qualitatively obtained data were analyzed by content analysis. In the research, 27 classroom teachers working in Gaziantep Şahinbey and Şehitkamil central districts were interviewed. According to the results of the research, they stated that the blended teaching model applied in primary schools due to the conditions was inefficient. They stated that it is suitable only for the 3rd and 4th grades in terms of its suitability for primary school, and it remains intangible compared to other levels. In the blending, they stated that there is no equal opportunity in the online education part, the students can not socialize enough, the success decreases due to the lack of participation compared to the traditional education, and in some cases it has no effect. They stated that while blending face-to-face education and online education, they were inadequate in some cases and that they had problems in using classroom management and measurement and evaluation tools. The teachers also stated that the blended teaching model, which will be made with a better planning without being compelled, will bring more efficient results, and they also stated that it will be beneficial to use the new generation teaching models in primary school by taking the necessary in-service trainings. In addition, they stated that processes such as pandemics have become a part of life and that alternative methods are important so that necessary precautions are taken in advance against the possibility of recurrence and education is not disrupted.
