Özet (EN)

Since the early periods of its history, human beings have felt obliged to acquire and develop various weapons for defense and, when necessary, for attack, due to security concerns. The defense effort, which started with classical hand tools, gained a different dimension over time thanks to the horse and horse riding, where humans and horses meet. On the other hand, firepower, one of the four main elements of matter, began to be used in wars. With the appearance of Muslims on the stage of history, equestrianism began to become a branch of science and art with its training program that included ethical rules and the type of tools used, and began to be institutionalized under the name of furûsiyye, while its widespread use of firearms, especially in the early Mamluk period, is noteworthy. In addition to furāsiyya being the main discipline in army training, in the context of the use of firearms technique, the Mamluk period in general, the 13th century Mamluk martial art master Ḥasan al-Rammāḥ (d.1294?) and the Kitâb al-Furūsiyya wa-al-manâṣib al-ḥarbiyya attributed to him in particular, deserve special attention. Although firearms and mechanical weapons are not generally mentioned in furūsiyya works, the mentioned work is an exception by containing information about both furusiyye and firearms and mechanical weapons.
